The Mission

The Mission

"Free Pads for Freedom" is a vital project by the HINGHOYNOY Organization to provide free, reusable cloth pads to women and girls in vulnerable situations. With sanitary products being an unsupported expense in Thailand, this initiative serves critical communities, including those in the Myanmar war zone, remote hill tribes (Lahu and Karen), and other poverty-stricken areas. My mission was to create the instructional materials to ensure the recipients could use the pads with confidence and dignity.

My Approach

My Approach

My approach was to create illustrations and layouts that were simple, universal, and empowering. Knowing the materials would be used by diverse groups, I focused on clean, step-by-step visuals that could be easily understood, even across language barriers. The goal was to design with empathy, providing clear guidance on how to use, wash, and care for the pads.

What I Did & The Challenges

What I Did & The Challenges

My role was to handle all visual communication for the project. A unique and rewarding challenge was the multilingual aspect. My responsibilities included:

  • Instructional Illustration: Creating clear, friendly visuals for the user guides.

  • Layout Design: Designing posters, flyers, and other informational materials.

  • Multilingual Collaboration: Working closely with translators for Myanmar, Lahu, and Karen languages. I was responsible for carefully integrating these unfamiliar scripts into the designs, ensuring every word and instruction was placed accurately.

Outcome & What I Learned

Outcome & What I Learned

We successfully produced a suite of multilingual materials that effectively bridges language and cultural gaps. I am incredibly happy and proud that my design work is helping women in these communities understand how to use their cloth pads correctly. This project was a profound lesson in designing for social impact. It taught me how to navigate complex cross-cultural collaborations and reinforced my belief that thoughtful, empathetic design can make a tangible difference in people's health and well-being.
